MCCANDLESS ROOFER

Your Local Roofer in McCandless, PA

When you need roofing in McCandless, PA, our shop at 500 Perry Highway is about 4 miles by car from the middle of the township. McCandless calls itself the Town of McCandless, but it's a home rule township in the North Hills of Allegheny County, about 16.6 square miles of hilly ground on the Allegheny Plateau. Its students attend North Allegheny School District, and Perry Highway and McKnight Road both run through it, so our trucks reach most streets quickly.

Our most recent McCandless post was a gutter job: in March 2025 we hung 300 feet of seamless white 5 inch gutters and downspouts around a two story brick home. We also replace roofs nearby every month, with recent Atlas roofs in Wexford, Ross Township and Allison Park, all a short drive from McCandless. Each job starts with a free inspection and a written estimate, and the crew sends photo updates while the work is going on.

MCCANDLESS HOMES

What McCandless Homes Ask of a Roof

McCandless grew fast in the last century. The population more than doubled between 1930 and 1950, doubled again by 1960, and doubled once more after that, so much of the housing in neighborhoods such as Highland, Ingomar, Longvue Acres, Foxcroft Village and Royal Manor dates from those decades onward. North Park covers about 15 percent of the township, and Pine Creek cuts a deep valley through the middle. Wooded lots and long rooflines shape what a roof here needs.

Drop thin

Long gutter runs

Bigger two story homes can carry a lot of eave. Our March 2025 job took 300 feet of seamless gutter, and seamless runs mean fewer joints that can drip or pull apart.

House line thin

Leaves from wooded lots

Homes near North Park and the Pine Creek valley sit under mature trees. Leaves pack gutters and hold water at the roof edge, so we check drip edge and fascia on every visit.

Building office thin

Vents, pipes and chimneys

Every vent, pipe and chimney is a hole in the roof. We replace the boots and flashing at each one so the new roof seals tight where leaks usually start.

Camera thin

Freeze and thaw

Pittsburgh winters cross the freezing line again and again. Water in a clogged gutter or under a lifted shingle expands as it freezes, which is why spring inspections with photos pay off.

“ I was referred to this company by another roofing contractor because his schedule was so full. I called Malick bros in the morning and had someone here that afternoon. I only had two out five roofers return my call. Clint was very thorough from the beginning of the process through job completion. Shout out to Clint and his crew they did an excellent job repairing and replacing the deteriorated fascia and gutter system. ”

FAQ

McCandless Roofing Questions

Questions McCandless homeowners ask before they book gutters, a repair or a new roof.

How far is your crew from McCandless?

Our shop is at 500 Perry Highway, about 4 miles by car from the center of McCandless, and Perry Highway runs straight up into the township. That short trip helps when a storm tears off shingles or a gutter comes loose and you need someone soon. If water is already getting inside, start with our roof repair service and we'll get a crew out.

Yes. In March 2025 we installed 300 feet of seamless white 5 inch gutters and downspouts on a McCandless home. Seamless gutters are formed on site in long runs, so there are fewer joints to leak. We offer 5 and 6 inch K style gutters in white, black or almond and size them to how much roof drains into each run. See our gutter services page.

Roof size and pitch come first, then how many layers of old shingles we tear off, how much decking is soft or rotted, and how many hips, valleys, chimneys and skylights the roof has. Add ons like new gutters or more ventilation also matter, along with the shingle line you pick. We inspect and give you a free written estimate, and our financing options can spread out payments.

It depends on how much roof area feeds each gutter and how steep it is. Many homes do well with 5 inch gutters, which is what our McCandless gutter job used, while long, steep roof planes or spots where two slopes empty into one run may call for 6 inch gutters and bigger downspouts. We measure on site and explain the choice in the estimate. Read more on our gutter page.

We install seamless K style gutters in 5 inch and 6 inch sizes, with downspouts to match, in white, black or almond. The 300 feet of gutters we hung in McCandless in March 2025 were white 5 inch, a common pick for colonials with white trim. Larger roofs or steep slopes may need 6 inch gutters to keep up in heavy rain. We measure and recommend a size with your free estimate. See our gutter services.

Most of our roofs are a complete Atlas system of shingles, underlayments and ventilation, and we're AtlasPro+ Platinum Select certified. Nearby owners have recently picked Majestic Shake in Wexford and Morning Harvest in Ross Township and Allison Park. We bring samples to the estimate so you can see colors next to your brick or siding. Compare the options on our asphalt shingle page.

Yes. Doing both in one project keeps the roof edge, trim and siding under one crew and one schedule. We install James Hardie and vinyl siding, plus soffit and fascia wrapped in metal. Our article on siding and roofing upgrades in McCandless Township covers how the two work together, and our siding installation page has the details.

From the ground, look for missing or creased shingles, granules piling up at downspouts, gutters pulled away from the fascia and stains on ceilings inside. Stay off a wet roof. Call us for a free inspection; we take photos, write up what we find and can meet your insurance adjuster if you file a claim. Our roof repair team can tarp an active leak first.
