Searching for the best roofers in Pittsburgh turns up a lot of pages that only talk about one company. This one is different. We are Malick Brothers Exteriors, a family owned roofing company in West View, and we put ourselves first on this list because we believe we belong here. We also named eight other Pittsburgh roofing companies that do good work, with the facts we could verify about each one: where they are based, when they started, what they specialize in, which manufacturer programs they belong to, and their Google rating and review count on the day we checked. If one of them is a better fit for your roof than we are, we would rather you know that now.
How we picked the best roofing companies in Pittsburgh
Every company on this list had to meet the same criteria:
- A physical office in the Pittsburgh area, not a call center or a lead marketplace.
- A Pennsylvania Home Improvement Contractor registration that we could find on the company website or a public record.
- At least 300 Google reviews with a rating of 4.7 or higher on October 5, 2026, when we checked every profile.
- At least one named manufacturer certification, such as Atlas, GAF, Owens Corning or CertainTeed, which means the company can offer extended system warranties.
- Roofing as a core service, not a side line.
Review counts and ratings change daily. The numbers below are what Google showed on October 5, 2026. Years founded and certifications come from each company’s own website or Google Business Profile. We left out anything we could not confirm.
1. Malick Brothers Exteriors (West View, North Hills)
Best for: North Hills homeowners who want a local crew, photo updates during the job and an Atlas 50 year warranty.

We are Pittsburgh roofing contractors based at 500 Perry Highway in West View. Ryan Malick founded the company in 2022, and it is still family owned and run by people who grew up in this neighborhood. We are BBB accredited with an A+ rating, and our PA Home Improvement Contractor registration is PA174918.
On the manufacturer side, we are an AtlasPro+ Platinum Select contractor, which lets us offer the Atlas 50 year warranty on complete Atlas roof systems (shingles, underlayment and ventilation installed together). We are also MuleHide certified for EPDM rubber and other low slope systems, so flat garage roofs, porch roofs and small commercial buildings get a proper membrane installation instead of a patch.
What customers mention most in reviews is communication. Our project managers send photos and short videos from the roof while the work is happening, so you can see the decking, the underlayment and the flashing before the shingles cover them. Our residential roof repair division handles shingle, slate, tile and flat roof repairs, plus box gutters, and we do full replacements, siding, soffit, fascia and seamless gutters. Recent jobs include Allison Park, Ross Township, Bellevue, Emsworth, Ben Avon, Mars and Squirrel Hill, and you can see the towns we cover on our service areas page.

How to choose a roofer in Pittsburgh
A list is a starting point. Before you sign with anyone, including us, run these checks.

- Look up the PA HIC number. Every contractor doing more than $5,000 of home improvement work a year in Pennsylvania must register with the Attorney General. Search the number at the PA Attorney General HIC search and confirm the business name matches and the registration is current. Ours is PA174918.
- Ask for a certificate of insurance. You want general liability and workers compensation, and you want the certificate sent to you directly by the insurer or agent, not a photocopy from a truck.
- Check the manufacturer’s own locator. GAF, Owens Corning and CertainTeed publish contractor directories. If a company claims a tier, you should find it there. Atlas does not publish a locator, which is why we show our certificate when asked.
- Read the one and two star reviews. Every company with a few hundred reviews has some. What matters is whether the owner responded and whether the complaint is about workmanship or about scheduling.
- Get a written scope, not a price per square. The estimate should name the shingle line, underlayment, ice and water barrier locations, ventilation plan, flashing material and what happens if decking needs replacement.
- Ask who is on the roof. Some companies use their own crews, some use subcontractors. Neither is wrong, but you should know who is accountable and who is pulling the permit.
- Ask how you will see the work. Most of a roof is covered by the time it is done. Photo updates, a final walkthrough and a drone or ladder inspection of the finished roof are reasonable to request.

Frequently asked questions
Who are the best roofers in Pittsburgh?
There is no single answer, because the right roofer depends on your roof, your neighborhood and the material you want. The nine companies above all have a local office, a current PA registration, a manufacturer certification and at least 300 Google reviews at 4.7 stars or better as of October 2026. Start with the two or three closest to you and compare written scopes.
Does a higher Google review count mean a better roofing company?
Not by itself. A large count usually means a company has been busy for a long time and asks for reviews consistently. A smaller count with recent, detailed reviews can tell you more about how the company works today. Read the most recent twenty reviews rather than looking at the total.
What does a manufacturer certification like Atlas Platinum or GAF Master Elite actually get me?
Two things. First, the manufacturer has checked that the contractor is registered, insured and trained on its products. Second, only certified contractors can register the manufacturer’s extended system warranties, which cover materials and often workmanship for far longer than a standard limited warranty. Ask the contractor which warranty you will receive and who registers it.
How many roofing estimates should I get in Pittsburgh?
Three is a reasonable number. More than that and the scopes become hard to compare. Make sure each estimate is for the same shingle line and the same ventilation and flashing plan, or you are comparing different roofs rather than different prices.
Should I hire a roofer based in my part of Pittsburgh?
It helps. A roofer who works in your area every week knows the housing stock, the local permit office and how the weather hits that hillside. It also means a shorter drive when you call about a leak two years from now. That is one reason we built this list by location, so you can see which companies are based in the North Hills, the South Hills, the city and the east suburbs.
If you are in the North Hills and want a second opinion on a repair or a quote on a replacement, we are at 500 Perry Highway in West View and are happy to come out, take photos and walk you through what we see.
